About the owner:
Jo West
started decorating cakes for close friends and family in 1976. As
she honed her skills, she started decorating as a side job for
friends and friends of friends. She also taught Wilton Method Cake
Decorating classes in Nashville.
In 1996, Jo
decided to make a career out of cooking and cake decorating. She
started school at MTSU and entered the Opryland Hotel Culinary
Institute. In 2001, Jo graduated from the Opryland Hotel
Culinary Institute and in the process earned an Associate of
Applied Sciences degree with a concentration in Culinary Arts from
Volunteer State Community College in Gallatin, Tennessee.
Additionally, Jo holds certifications in bridal consulting,
sanitation and nutrition, a specialization certificate in food and
beverage management, and is a Certified Culinarian
(C.C.).
Jo won
several awards while in school at Opryland including, an Honorable
Mention in the National Top Tomato Recipe Contest in 2000, First
place in the amateur category of the Incredible Edible Chocolate
Festival in 2001 (see specialty
desserts), and numerous awards with the
Opryland Hot Food Team as a pastry chef.
Currently,
Jo's Custom Cakes and Catering, Inc. is a family owned and operated
business serving the greater Nashville area (we are based in
Smyrna). Our goal is to make your event a pleasure for both you and
